THE TOKENS

Throughout the 1960’s, THE TOKENS wrote, produced and recorded some of music's most well-known songs. In addition to their chart-topping hit, "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," they also had hits with "I Hear Trumpets Blow", "Portrait of My Love", and "Tonight I Fell in Love". Their talents also extended to successfully producing the iconic hits of artists such as The Happenings ("See You In September" & "I Got Rhythm"), Tony Orlando & Dawn ("Candida," "Knock Three Times" & "Tie A Yellow Ribbon"), and The Chiffons ("He's So Fine" & "One Fine Day"). Additionally, THE TOKENS were the very first group to play their own instrument tracks at recording sessions.

In 1998, THE TOKENS became the first and only group to sing the National Anthem in all major league ballparks in one season, an accomplishment that landed them into the Guinness Book of World Records. They have been inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and the Long Island Music Hall of Fame.

Following the loss of both Mitch Margo in 2017 and Phil Margo in 2021, Phil's son, Noah, felt it paramount to continue to celebrate the great music created by his father and his uncle. With this new configuration Noah honors their legacy while keeping it in the family.

Noah Margo - Drummer, etc. Noah toured with THE TOKENS from 1993-2019. A man of many talents, Noah is a playwright, a children's author, and a handyman. He has taught elementary school and currently serves as a governing board member for the Beverly Hills Unified School District.

Solomon Margo - Solly is a multi-faceted artist from Los Angeles. He started as an actor, but switched focus to follow his destiny and chase the dream of making music.

Jay Leslie - Jay attended the "real" High School of the Performing Arts in New York where he learned his arranging and composing skills, as well as the various woodwind instruments he plays. He then attended Berklee College of Music where he studied performance. You could say that Jay has practically "done it all," from being a former member of "Sha-Na-Na," to Music Coordinator for the CBS daytime drama, "The Young and the Restless," to his 30-year tenure as a member of THE TOKENS.

Rebecca Curci - Rebecca began singing with THE TOKENS at age 15, as part of the group Those Girls. She has been acting in musical theatre, since she was 3, and has performed in productions on both coasts.

Nico Wicklin - Nico began his musical education at the age of 4 with piano lessons. After moving to Atlanta, he learned to play the bass and played with many children’s ensembles in the DeKalb County area. He eventually moved back to California, graduated from California State University, Northridge, and has continued his musical journey by venturing into production and songwriting while performing with THE TOKENS.

Ethan Ginsberg Margo - After falling in love with music production in high school, Ethan graduated from the University of Colorado, Denver with a degree in Music Production and Recording. With a jazz piano background and years of formal musical education, he is well suited to be the harmonic anchor of THE TOKENS.
